Circus

This Saturday we was doing circus again @ Katuturas Goreahub Dum. Because of Fridays misunderstanding my Fridays workshop was cancelled by workers of the HoGH, and there was not so much circus members participating on Saturday. I feel I'm running out of the time, and all those stupid complications are keeping circus group away from gathering and practicing together. Still it was nice to see circus gathering, I saw some members who was away for many weeks as well as girls who was busy with chores at home last weekend so they could not participate.



On our arrival there was probably 200 kids, and swings were opened :D Yahoo! The  kids were climbing around, having fun, waiting turns in queue. It seems spontaine and funny. It felt nice to see them enjoying childhood instead of fighting each others or reaching for attention to adults.

This time we were practicing circus arts in general. Circus group took their treasure chest and pulled out magic tricks, rolabola, flower sticks, clubs, juggling balls, and other stuff. They were happy. They compete. They were branching about their new skills.

At some point we were watching videos from around the world, about really skillful performances with monocycles, juggling, acrobatics and clownery. AS well I presented trailer of Cirque du Soleil from one of big Shows. Kids were amused! They never seen or could imagine what big circus meant. They had stunned WOW effect with amused faces, as they saw flying acrobats, clowns walking on sticks, jugglers standing on rolabola and all light sound and show effects. It was nice to see the sparkle in their eyes when they realized possibilities coming from circus training, in later life and careers. We watched as well video of their earlier performance @ Katuturas swimming pool. They still could remember who was wearing what color of shirts, and who was performing what what..

It was nice day, and by the time we were leaving kids started to ask: -Do we really have to? As well they were demanding 3 workshops per week. So we agreed meeting on wednesday next time, and then friday and saturday. Well we will see how thats turn out next week.

Tänä lauantaina tehtiin taas sirkusta Katuturan Goreahubin slummeissa. Perjantain työpaja oli peruutettu ikään väärinkäsityksestä organisaation nisten toimesta. Tämän tähden lauantain työpajaan ei osannut tulla kaikki ryhmäläiset. Musta tuntuu että aikaa loppuu kesken, ja kaikki ylimääräinen säätö turhauttaa tekemisessä estäen ryhmää kokoontumasta ja harjoittelemasta. On kuitenkin kiva nähdä sirkusporukan kokoontuvan, tällä kertaa näin jäseniä jotka olivat estyneet tulemasta paikalle kotitöitten ja matkustamisen vuoksi.

Saapuessamme paikalle meitä odotti todennäköisesti toista sataa lasta, kiikut olivat auki ja käytössä :) Jess! Lapset kiipeili, jonotti, nauttii kiikkumisesta ja piti hauskaa. Se oli luonnollisen näköistä ja suloista. Oli kiva nähdä heitä nauttimassa lapsuudesta sen sijan että he tappelisivat huomiosta ja riuhtoisiva taikuisia huomioon toivossa.

Tällä kertaa sirkuksessa oli sirkustaidot yleensä. Kaivoimme esiin sirkusarkun, josta tuli esiin taikatemput, jonkkapallot, keilat, rolabola, kukkakepit ja muu kama. Lapset olivat onnessaan. He kilpailivat vuoroista ja esittivät uusia taitoja.



Jossain vaiheessa istahdimme katseleman erilaisia taitovideoita yksipöyräisistä, jongleerauksesta, acrobatiasta ja klowneriasta. Näytin heille myös Sirgue du Soleilin trailerin yhdestä heidän esityksestä. Lapset olivat lumoissa. He eivät koskaan aiemmin nähneet isoa sirkusta! Hämmennys näkyi heidän kasvoilla ja he tuijottivat silmät pyöristyneinä lentäviä akrobaatteja, jongleeravia tasapainottelijoita, klowneja kävelemässä puujaloilla jne.. Oli kiva nähdä heidän katseissa kipinää, kun he tajusivat, mitä kaikkea sirkus voisi olla. Osa heistä käsitti sirkuksen potentiaalit myös myöhemmässä elämässä. Me myös katsoimme läpi heidän aiemman esityksen Katuturan uima-altaalla. Lapset katoivat ja elivät esitystä uudelleen. He muistivat kuka oli minkävärisessä paidassa, ja mitä kukin esitti vuorollaan..

Se oli hauska päivä, ja lähtöaikaan kohtasin kysymyksen: Onko meidän pakko lähteä, eikö voisi harjoitella tai edes hengata vielä. Samalla tuli kysymyksiä sirkustyöpajojen laajentamisesta kolmeen kertaan viikossa. Sirkusryhmä todella kokeilee mun kestävyyden rajoja. Mut niin me sovittiin, seuraava työpaja keskiviikkona, ja sit pe -la normi tyyliin. Saa nähdä mitä siitä tulee.

Drama Friday, Crafting Saturday

We had two circus workshops during this weekend. On Friday we had conversation about forms of Bullying. Kids brought up classical cases with thugs beating u up and taking your food and money, then milking u daily for profit. As well there was cases about boys fighting for girl they share in love with. Then there were cases when someone make a nickname, f.ex. "Stinky" and it go around until its not funny, then the bully change the name for something else. Surprisedly for me they had cases where student in favor might be worshipped by others ones, so they can skip classes and treat friends as shit, just because they favorite by others and can destroy other ones social status in class. As well kids used therm of "Judah" for those who stand on side and don't take active part in bullying but still give support to active ones. Back home we call those passive bullying persons.

We talked as well about approaches and solutions u could have, in case of bullying. Kids brought up cases where issue were taken until community level. Sometimes bully ones are such dangerous that even parents of the kid might be threaten away with the knives. Some of the kids told that bringing up issue to the teacher is bad because u will be labeled as snitch afterwards. And probably the physical abuse or punishment will be carried up on u. So how it is that 12 years old are ready give up right for security and safe home trip just to avoid the trouble with the bully ones. Well couple of kids said that in some cases firs aid is not to allow others to bully u.

We agreed to perform our anti bullying campaign with methods of drama combined to circus arts. One of the kids were taking drama classes and promised to write the script for a drama parts. I Actually could hold the script in my hand on Saturday morning. It had a name, director, writer and lines for different scenes. Well on Friday we worked on acting performing and expressing emotions.

One of the challenges for me was to explain actors role. The thing is that they do not have theaters or drama actors here. Its not an option for career. Luckily they study some acting @ schools and performed for school audience. So I told them that what we will do. We had couple of exercises like Chairs of Emotions and Fish King those kids really loved. We agreed that in future workshops we will practice more the performance and study the script. As well kids loved any drama exercises cause there they had chance to improvise and perform in any way they liked and shine.

Saturday we were crafting. We started workshop with Kingfish, Mirror and Colors Games. And after we had shaft opened we moved on inside to do five sets of flower-sticks and prepare more of juggling clubs. The workshop was time to time a little-bit chaotic, kids outside of circus were irritating and bullying kids inside the shaft. There was no peace to work, and even I had time to time go and negotiate conditions of existence just to keep the civil war away cause most of us had weapons in hands. After three loud and stressful hours, we had it: 11 clubs and 5 flower stick sets maid. The best moment for kids was to spray the clubs in different colours. And no matter how many times I told them to be careful with spray paint, and to give each others space and peace to paint, they fought, they mess, they chaise each others. They were kids, and they had fun. We took group photo in the end, and some of they stayed with me and Ultsi waiting for the drive. We talked about us leaving,  I could see on faces of the kids that they didn't like the time ticking. The message was short and clear, comeback or send someone else, and teach us more. Leave us materials and videos, this is not enough!

Tällä viikolla meillä oli kaksi sirkuksen työpajaa. Perjantaina harjoittelimme draamaa, esiintymistä ja ilmaisua kun lauantaina taas tehtiin välineitä sirkusryhmälle. Aloitimme perjantaintyöpaja keskustelemalla koulukiusaamisesta ja sen muodoista. Lapset toivat esille klassisiä keisseja pahiksista jotka ryöstää heikoimmilta rahat ja eväät, ja tekee siitä käytännön jossa ne lypsäävät heikoimpia päivittäin kuin lehmää. Esille tuli tapauksia jossa pojat kilpailee tytöstä jonka he jakaavat ihastuksissaan. Oli tapauksia nimittelystä, jossa haukkumanimeä kierrätettiin kunnes se kului loppuun, jonaka jälkeen se vaihdettiin uuteen. Minulle yllätyksenä tuli keissit palvonnasta. Koulussa menestyvä oppilas tai suosittu sellainen saattoi manipuloida koko kaveripiiriään niin että alaisensa tois sille ruokaa, rahaa, vaatteita; teki sen puolesta koulutehtäviä ja varjelivat sen selustaa poissaolojen suhteen. Lapsilla oli myös termi "Judah" sellaisiksi kutsuttiin pasiivisiä kisuaajia, heitä jotka eivät juuri tehneet mitään pahaa, seurasivat vaan tilannetta sivusta. Kotona me kutsutaan sitä passiiviseksi kiusaamiseksi.

Me keskustelimme myös vaihtoehdoista miten kiusamistilanteita kannattaa lähestyä ja yrittää purkaa. Sirkusryhmäläisiltä tuli esimerkkeja jossa vakavat kiusaamistapaukset käsiteltiin jopa yhteiskunta tasolla. Jotkut kiusaajista ovat niin vaarallisiä että jopa vanhemmat ovat saada puukosta, yrittäessä selvitellä tilannetta. Muutaman eyhmässäni toivat esille että opettajan lähestyminen oli hankalaa tai huonoa menettelyä, sillä samalla leimaantui kantelijaksi. Jälkiseuraamukset saattoivat olla pahempia kun itse kiusaaminen, koston sai tuntea fyysisenä väkivaltana. Miten on mahdollista että 12 vuotia suunnittelee jo omaa parastaan, ja valitsee kiusattuna olemisen väkivallan uhalla. No muutamat oli sitä mieltä ettei pidä antaa muiden kiusata itteään.

Me päätimme yhdessä tehdä kiusaamisen vastaista kampanjaa yhdistäeen draaman ja sirkustaiteen keinoja. Yksi heistä oli käynyt draaman tunneilla koulussa ja lupasi kirjoittaa käsikirjoituksen. Niin siinä kävi että pitelin läjää papereita kädessäni seuraavana aamuna, niistä kävi ilmi ohjaaja kertoja, esityksen nimi ja keskeisimmät repliikit useampaan näytökseen. Perjantaina työstimmekin ilmaisua ja esiintymistä.

Kohtasin myös haasteita. Yksi niistä oli selittää näyttelemisen tai teatterin draamaa. Täällä kun ei ole ainuttakaan teatteria eikä esiintymistä mielletään kunnoliseksi ammatiksi. Onneksi kouluissa lapset olivat kohdanneet koulunäytelmiä ja draamakerhoja.  Joten hyödynsin sitä havainnolistamisessa. Meillä oli muutamia leikkejä ja harjoitteita joiden oli tarkoitus harjoituttaa ja tukea tunnetiolojen ilmaisua ja eläytymistä. Me myös sovittiin että tulevissa työpajoissa tehdään enemmän esiintymisen harjoitteita ja harjoitellaan varsinaista käsikirjoitusta. Ryhmäläiset rakastivat draamatunteja sillä he saivat vapauden ilmaista itseään ja loistaa.

Lauantaina oli askartelutyöpaja. tällä kertaa teimme välineitä. Aloitimme työpajan Kalaparvi, Peili ja Värit leikeillä. Kun vaja aukesi siirryimme valmistamaan kukkakeppejä ja keiloja. Lapset ärsytti ja provosoi ulkopuolelta. He olivat nälkäisiä ja katellisiä sirkuslaisille. Minä jouduin pariin otteseen pitämään rauhan neuvotteluja, jotta vältyttäisiin sisällisodalta sillä aset oli jo käsissään. Kolme tuntia myöhemmin meillä oli valmiina 11 keilaa ja 5 kukkakeppi settiä. Lapsista hauskinta oli sprayväreillä maalaminen, kun ne saivat värittää keilaansa haluamansa näköiseksi. Ja vaikka kuinka kerroin heille että heidän täytyi olla varovaisia, kunnioittaa toisten tilaa ja rauhaa, ja yrittää olla sotkematta. He tappelivat, jahtasivat toisiaan ja sotkivat toistensa tukat. He olivat lapsia, ja pitivät hauskaa. Me otimme lopuksi ryhmäkuvan, ja jotkut heistä jäivät pitämään seuraa kun odotimme Ultsin kanssa kyytiä. Me keskustelimme minun poislähdöstä. Heidän kasvoista näkyi ettei he pitäneet siitä että aika tikittää. Viesti oli lyhyt ja selvä: Milloin palaat, tai milloin lähetät jonkun tilalle? Ja me tarvitsemme enemmän materiaalia ja videoita itsensä kehittämiseen, tämä ei riitä!

24 hours duty on PayDay weekend..

I had to experience it once, the payday weekend here in Namibia. I jumped in shift on Friday night, and by the time I got to Hospital there was already 5 ambulances. I chose to walk trough casualty to see whats coming. The Casualty was full of people, they had all of the beds occupied. People who laid on the beds was mostly covered in blood, some of then had knives in bodies. Resuscitation and casualty theatre was busy. Some guy had cut on his neck, mussels were totally separated from body, he walked and kept turning his head around, and you could see how surfaces scrub against each other and blood was pulping from the wound. Interesting night is coming I thought and continued my way to upstairs.

In theatre we had 3 explorative laparotomy and 3 c-sections. My anesthesiologist looked exhausted, she started her shift 12 hours before me. As well genie surgeon looked tired as well, he hold my back to check its fine. We have a deal, that by the time I'm leaving Ill give him my old military gas mask bag, he fell in love with it on first day we met.

The C-sections were performed at maturity clinic, so overtime there is call, one team goes trough casualty and front yard to maturity. This time I was coming late, so I followed alone my team. In corridor to casualty I saw Young man dragging a woman with knife in his hand, it was tool for opening packages or installing carpet floor. He stabbed her in right side of chest couple of time, by the time I managed ahead walking guardian realize situation. Guardian was sleepy and phlegmatic, but once he was on the board, he was shouting loud and approaching young man with baton. Thats for security in doors, they walk with knives in pockets searching someone to stab. On the way back to theatre couple of hours later same man laid with smashed face on trolley, hands cuffed and no signs of a woman. I tried ask about lady, but no one could recall her.

During the Saturday my doc managed to save woman who was shot in face with a gun. Bullet went trough. My colleagues told me that some patients didn't reach casualty alive. As well we extracted a screwdriver from mans spinal, it was all the way inside. Guy was really lucky cause if it went deeper his lung would be punctured, if it would be different angle, he would be paralyzed or dead. It could hit 1 cm left aorta. But he could move, breath and speak with screwdriver in his thorax spine. There is still chance for bases and sepsis, but I wish his luck cover those too.

My last patient died on table. It was craniotomy with massive bleeding, we had 7 liters of blood and flush in suction, at some point heart gave up. I u ask me, patient had no chance and even patient survived surgery the damage on the brain would be permanent. Better this way. I walked trough casualty on my way home, and asked about statistics. One of sisters told me that probably there was more then 100 stubs over the weekend, couple of gunshots and massive amount of blunt head injuries. Ill see more proper numbers next week. Well maybe its a Namibian win in football against Mozambique, that spared couple of lives on Saturday.

Mun täytyi saada kokea sen kerran, palkkapäivä Namibiassa. Hyppäsin perjantaina yövuoroon leikkuriiin. Kun saavuin sairaalalle edessä loisti jo viisi ambulanssia. Päätin mennä sen läpi nähdäkseen mitä on tulossa. Ensiapu oli täysi ihmisistä. Ne jotka makasivet paareilla, olivat veren peitossa. Siellä, täällä sojotti veitsiä. Elvytys oli kiireinen, toimenpide sali myös. Yksi mies käveli viilto niskassa, lihakset oli täysin poikki, hän käänteli päätään ja puhui puhelimessa. Leikkauspinnat hankasi toisiaan vastaan ja jokaisella hankauksella pulppusi verta ulos haavasta. Mielenkiintoinen yö tulossa ajattelin mennessäni yläkertaan.

Leikkurissa odotti kolme tutkivaa laparatomia ja 3 sektiota. Mun anesthesialääkäri oli väsyneen näköinen. Hän oli aloittanut 12 tuntia mua ennen.  Leikkava gyne näytti myös väsyneltä, leikkausten välissä hän kähmensi laukkuani katsoakseen onko se kunnossa. Meillä on diili, lupasin antaa hänelle vanhan kaasunaamarin kassin palattaessani Suomeen. Heillä on rakkaussuhde ensisilmäyksestä.

Sektiot tehdään alakerrassa, äitiysklinikalla. Silloin tällöin sinne tulee puhelu ja yksi tiimi menee ensiavun läpi ja pihan poikki äitiyspolille. Tällä kertaa olin myöhässä. Sairaalan sisällä käytävällä nuori mies talutti naista niska kainalossa, toisessa kädessä sillä oli mattoveitsi. Hän ehtii tökätä naista oikeaan kylkeen muutaman kertaan ennenn kuin sain vastaan kävelevän vartijan tajuamaan tilanteen. Vartija oli väsynyt ja flegmattinen, ja hänen katse vaelsi käytävällä, läpsäytin häntä hartijaan ja sanoin että tuolla on vetsi. Hän heräsi ja lähti ääntä korottaeen pamppu kädessä selvittämään tilannetta. Se turvallisuudesta sisätiloissa, nää kulkee veitset taskussa etsien puukotettavaa. Muutama tunti myöhemmin palattaessani yläkjertaan, näin saman myehen paareilla, tällä kertaa käsiraudoissa ja kasvot puurona. Yritin kysellä henkilökunnalta naisesta mutta kukaan ei tuntunut nähneen häntä.

Lauantain aikana mun tiimi onnistui pelastamaan päähän ammutun naisen, luoti meni läpi. Alakerrassa kollegat kertoivat ettei kaikki potilaat päässeet elossa ensiapuun asti. Me myös saimme mehevän talttapääruuvimeisselin poistettavaksi spinaalitilasta. Mies oli todella onnekas, koska meisselin ollessa eri kulmassa hän olisi todennäköisesti paralysoitunut tai kuollut, sentti vasempaan ja aorta olisi mennyt rikki, ja isommalla voimalla se olisi mennyt syvemmälle ja puhkaissut keuhkon. Hän pystyi puhumaan, liikkumaan hengittämään. Hänellä oli vielä chänssit mätäpaiseseen ja sepsikseen, mutta toivon että hänen onni kantaa noiden yli.

Mun viimeinen potilas kuoli pöydälle. Se oli päätrauma massiivivuodolla, hänelle tehtiin kallonavaus. Meillä oli 7 litraa verta ja huuhtelua imussa, kun hänen sydän antoi periksi. Jos multa kysytään näin on parempi, sillä vauriot aivomassalle olivat mittavat. Kävelin taas ensiavun läpi matkalla kotia. Kysyin yhdeltä hoitajalta tilastoista. Hän laski nopeasti noin 100 pistoa, muutaman ammutun ja lukuisiä päätraumoja. Tarkemmat tilastot saadaan ensi viikolla. Ehkä Namibian voitto jalkapallossa Mosambikkiä vastaan säästi muutaman elämän.

THE GOLDEN WINGS CIRCUS

Last Friday we had circus workshop @ Katutura. This time we were working on hand to hand acrobatics and more complex pyramids. When we arrived there were waiting around 25 kids. This time circus group contained almost everyone from Sara's group and some of my recruits. There were also some teenage boys coming from football team, invited by ladies of the organization. The work environment were challenging, it was a Pay Day Friday and surroundings of Katutura were full of drunken people.

We started warming up with Captain Ball game. Kids were using hand crafted balls made from sucks, and because of variating quality some balls were more easy to balance than others. I find it okay, because even the variety of hairstyles make this game challenging to someones more then others.

After the warming up we were doing some pyramids, we definitely had attention of football team members. Kids were exited about the new and more complex combinations. They were about to reach higher and go bigger. But we worked slowly, and paid attention to security details. Some of the girls were scared but encouraged by others to try out and to be part of choreography. The success was shared with happiness on faces of my team members. After a small break we moved to hand to hand acrobatics, we practiced "the hook". It was challenging, because kids could not see this time the video or photo sample of figurine we were reaching. The body control is still challenging to some of the girls, but we had successful trials as well.

Unfortunately in the end, I had to say that teenage boys could not stay with our circus, even they had privileges in power.  We had couple of close contact situations during the workshop, and some of the boys had to leave place due to bad behavior. As well the original age spread of members in circus project was 7- to 14 years old. It  is the frame and there is no place for 16 - 20 year-old hormone freaks in lines of 12 years old girls.

After the physical training we moved on to some planning and serious talk. The kids had came up with 15 name suggestions for the circus-group. This time we had to vote for the one they will use. It was not easy because even after several instructions some of them wanted to raise both hands or vote for several options. Others chose to shout out loud the names of their choices. Finally we came up with "The Cool Cats" and "The Golden Wings Circus", those two were almost even majorities in numbers of voters. On second round with slight overpower in votes the Golden Wings Circus won! -I guess I'll have to draw quite many Golden wings on back of the shirts now :).. Well, kids were told that they are getting shirts with the name on it, and I have now the primary list of participants for the school tour. From Sara's group there will be 15 kids, and rest of the 10 places will be filled with new recruits.

Kids were exited. Some of them already has ideas, and ambitions about what to do. Couple of girls asked me to organize a circus camp for them, so they could practice for a week circus art intensively. We agreed that I'll try to work in future on weekends as well with them, and probably on performance week I'll take some time of duties @ Hospital. Kids were given homework as well: to think about bullying in the school environment. What forms it has, and how it shows in daily life. I saw quite many hands raising, but we agreed that next workshop will be place to process the thoughts.

PS. We finally got bicycles' O-tyres as well, so we can finish up crafting the juggling clubs and flower sticks. We are getting back on our feet and nothing can stop us!

Practicing The Hook

Viime perjantaina oli taas sirkustyöpaja Katuturassa. Tällä kertaa aiheena oli pariakrobatia ja pyramiidit. Kun saavuimme paikalla odotti noin 25 lasta. Joukossa oli Saran ryhmäläisiä ja mun rekrytoimia uusia jäseniä. Muutama vanhempi poika oli myös kutsuttu organisaation naisten toimesta jalkapallojoukkueesta. Työympäristö oli haastava, oli perjantai - palkkapäivä. Katutura oli täysi vaeltavi humalaisia kun aloitimme työskentelyn.

Lämmittelyksi meillä oli tiedossa "kapteeni pallo" leikki. Lapset käytti siinä itse valmistamiaan jonkkapallpja tehtynä sukista ja pallojen laatu vaihteli. Musta se oli ihan fine, koska tyttöjen kampauksetkin vaihteli melkoisesti tuottaen toisille haastetta ja toisille helpotusta leikkiin.

Lämmittelyn jälkeen seurasi pyramiidit. Me ehdottomasti kiinnitimme jalkapallojoukkueen huomiota.  Lapset olivat innoissaan uusista ja monimutkaisista kuvioista. He tavoittelivat korkeammalle, ja halusivat isompaa. Mutta me työskentelimme hitaasti, ja kiikkitimme paljon huomiota turvallisuuteen. Jotkut tytöistä jännittivät osallistumista mutta toisten kannustaman menivät mukaan kuvioihin. Onnistumista jaettiin ilolla ja hymyileen. Pienen tauon jälkeen seurasi pariakrobatia. Opettelimme "Hookin". Se oli haastavaa sillä tällä kertaa en näyttänyt mallikuviota tai videota, vaan ohjeet tulivat vaihettain suullisesti. Vartalon hallinta tuotti edelleen haasteita joillekin, mutta onnistumisiä oli joukossa.

Valitettavasti lopussa jousuin sanomaan pojille etteivät he voineet liittyä sirkukseen, vaikka heillä oli ryhmäläisiin verrattuna etuja voimissa ja vartalonhallinnassa. Meillä oli muutamia läheltäpiti tilanteita työpajan aikana, ja muutama poika joutui poistumaan paikalta huonon käytöksen takia. Lisäksi alkuperäinen ikäjakauma tässä projektissa oli suunniteltu seitsemästä- neljääntoistavuotiaille. Jotkut heistä yritti valehdella olevansa nuorempia, mutta jäi kiinni. Ikä raja on ehdoton tässä ryhmässä, eikä kaksitoista vuotiaiden tyttöjen joukossa ole sijaa kuusitoista - kakskymppisille hormoonihirmuille.

Fyysisen harjoittelun jälkeen meillä oli vakavan keskustelun tuokio, jossa ryhmäläiset suunnitteli tulevaa. Tällä kerta he saivat ehdottaa nimiä sirkukselle ja äänestää niistä mieluisan. Se oli haastavaa koska useista ohjeista huolimatta jotkut äänesti molemmilla käsillä, tai useita ehdotuksiä. Toiset taas huusi haluamansa nimen kovaa ääneen, tai nosti käden ja huusi sitten ääneen saatuaan kysymys vuoron. Viidestätoista nimestä ensimmäisellä kieroksella valittiin Cool Cats ja Golden Wings Circus. Nämä olivat selvä enemmistö, ja keskenään melkein tasoissa. Toisella kierroksella Golden Wings Circus voitti! Luulenpa että joudun piirtämään muutamat kultasiivet paitojen selkiin ;).. Lapsille kerrottiin että tulevina viikkoina he tulevat saamaan paidat ryhmän nimellä varustettuna. Samalla kerättiin koulukiertuelle osallistujien nimiä. Saran ryhmästä ilmoittautui viisitoista, ja loput kymmenen paikkaa töyttyvät uusilla sirkuslaisilla.

Lapset ovat innoissaan. Osalla heistä on jo ideoita ja visioita siitä mitä tulemme tekemään. Jotkut tytöistä pyysivät minua järjestämään intensiivisen harjoittelun sirkusleirin, jossa voisi harjoitella viikonajan. Sovimme että jatkossa tulen järjestämään ylimääräisiä työpajoja viikonloppuisin ja esitysviikolla otan henkilökohtaista vapaata täistä sairaalassa. Lapsille annettiin kotiläksyksi konkreettistä mietittävää. Mitä on koulukiusaminen, ja miten se ilmenee arjessa. Näin heti useita nousevia käsiä, mutta sovimme että käsittelemme asiaa seuraavassa työpajassa.

PS. Melopulta saimme pyöränsisäkumeja, joten välineiden valmistelussa päästään viimeistelyyn. Me nousemme taas jaloille, ja mikään ei pysäytä meit!
